Dudhkunda Lake Trek





Dhudhkunda Lake Trek is a popular trekking route in the eastern region of Nepal. It takes you to the serene and sacred Dhudhkunda Lake which is located at an altitude of around 4,560 meters (14,961 feet) in the lap of the Himalayas. The dudhkunda lake trek offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Kanchenjunga, among others. This trek is also very popular for Nepali Hindu and Buddhist cultural at Janai Purnima festival time. 

Dudhkunda trek typically takes around 10-12 days to complete, including both the ascent and descent starting Point: The trek usually starts from Phaplu, a town in the Solukhumbu District of Nepal. Phaplu is accessible by flight from Kathmandu or by road from Jiri. But now the Jeep goes until Taksindu Danda then the trek starts the next day from there.

Dudhkunda Lake Trek Difficulty: 

The Dhudhkunda Lake Trek is considered moderately challenging. While the trails are well-defined, there are some steep ascents and descents, as well as high altitude to contend with. The trails when you go to Lake all the way up and forest tiny trails you will enjoy both sides with mountain view. 

Dudhkunda Lake Trek Permits:

 Like most treks in Nepal, you’ll need the necessary permits to undertake the Dhudhkunda Lake Trek. These typically include the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card and the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit if you enter Sagarmatha national park but if you are not entering that then this trek needs only 1 permit. This trek also connects with Gurisankar conservation GCAP if you enter there then you need GCAP also. 

Best Time to Trek: The best time to undertake the Dudhkunda Lake Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons when the weather is clear, and the views are spectacular. Before embarking on the trek, it’s essential to make proper preparations, including physical conditioning, obtaining necessary permits, and ensuring you have the right gear and equipment. Additionally, it’s advisable to trek with a licensed guide or through a reputable trekking agency for safety and support along the journey.

Itinerary of Dudhkunda Lake Trek:

Drive by BP high way to Dhap- Salleri-Phaplu Taksindu overnight in guest house. You have also chance to shot wonderful photo and sunset of mount Everest, Lhotse and Makalu on the Dhap Pattale.

Day 03 Trek to Kami Danda

Trek to Kamidanda 3560 m stay at normal tea house with local food enjoying with views. The trek all the way forest trail and you also can see wild animals bird and many more.

After Breakfast you will go to Shasrabeni from Kamin Danda. 4,037 m is the Elevation of the Shasra beni it’s little cold there. Overnight at tea house.

Today you will reach your destination Dudhkunda 4,600 m lake and here is no tea house here you need to stay at your tent with good views.

After breakfast we will excursion lake and some puja then we will follow back to same track to the Sashrabeni for overnight stay.

Trek to Junbesi village junbesi is a Big Sherpa village where you can see Sherpa culture and Sherpa food sherpa monastery. Here you can stay at good hotel with good food as well. This is highway of the Everest base camp trek from Jiri and also you connect Pike Peak Trek.
